Don’t forget the 28th of May, 1974 in Piazza della Loggia. Il sogno di una cosa is a project created for the 40th anniversary of the massacre and is a work of dual importance: civil, for the commemoration of the anniversary, and artistic, for the choice of investing in the production of a new contemporary work by a young Italian artist, the composer Mauro Montalbetti. The score will be performed by the Ensemble Sentieri selvaggi directed by Maestro Carlo Boccadoro. A choral opera fruit of the collaboration between two artists of extraordinary talent: Marco Baliani, who will curate libretto and direction, as well as perform, and Alina Marazzi, video director, one of the most important figures in Italian cinema.

The opera seeks to trace a course which is not confined to the local commemoration, but is a universal reflection on violence, power and dishonour. From that fateful day remains the recording of the rally which was interrupted by the explosion. That breakage of lives and sense must not remain a still image of the past, but must transform itself into an act of resurrection, in the symbolic location of the polis, the Theatre. Sogno di una cosa takes on the tenacity of the memory and the gentle but proud gaze of the future.
