Mitipretese

In 2006, Manuela Mandracchia, Alvia Reale, Sandra Toffolatti and Mariàngeles Torres founded Mitipretese, in an attempt to find themselves a time and space for work, to examine femininity in an unconventional and personal manner.

Directing, playwriting and sets are the result of a collective effort which, together with Mauro de Santis, allowed for the creation of well-received and recognised popular shows, creating a precedent on the Italian theatrical scene. Of the three pieces proposed for the review, the first in chronological order is Roma ore 11, created in 2006, based on the investigative book by Elio Petri, which in 1952 was turned into a film directed by Guiseppe De Santis. It examines the 1951 incident which involved 77 young women from the more than 200 who had turned up for an interview for a single secretarial position. From 2009 comes Festa di famiglia, a reflection on the violent dynamics within the family unit, taking from works by Pirandello, re-examined with the collaboration of Andrea Camilleri. In 2003, with Troiane. Frammenti di tragedia, an examination of classic and contemporary works produces a reflection on war and the most fragile of its victims, women.
