Stabat Mater

From To at Piccolo Teatro Studio Melato

The Sabat Mater is a 13th century prayer. Tarantino has borrowed the figure of the Mother and transported it to modern times: his Mother is a prostitute and single mother. The Mother, alone on the stage, yearns for news of her arrested son and the dissolute figure of his father. Tarantino blends Italian with dialect and slang, transforming it into the language of the rejects, the underprivileged.
