On 23 February 2020 the crisis surrounding Covid-19 interrupted all lessons for the students of the 3rd year of the Giorgio Strehler Course, hindering them from achieving an overall professional profile, reachable through a form of training that cannot be carried out remotely.
Now more than ever, the Piccolo Teatro feels a profound sense of responsibility in supporting the students, not only from an educational point of view, but also and above all in terms of humanity and affection, following their progress right up to their entry into the world of employment. The Piccolo Teatro, which has always focused on the future of younger generations, firmly believes that this is not the right moment for its students to terminate their current course of education.
In this period of uncertainty, the Piccolo Teatro School of Theatre wants to lend its support to its students, helping them to overcome this highly complex period of uncertainty for the theatre and seeking to protect them until the situation is once again acceptable.
For these reasons, and in line with that set out in Resolution n° Xi/3063 dated 20 April 2020 by the Lombardy Region, who we thank for their support, the Piccolo Teatro has decided to reschedule educational activities, extending the Giorgio Strehler Course to July 2021.
In line with that set out by the Government, lessons are due to recommence in September 2020 while the call for applications for the new three-year course (2021-2024) will be published on the website at the end of January 2021, and will be destined for candidates of between 18 and 26 years of age. The course is due to begin in September of the same year.
