After last season’s success, LaFil and Federico Maria Sardelli return to the Teatro Studio Melato with a new event dedicated to Antonio Vivaldi: L’Olimpiade, a musical drama set against the backdrop of the ancient Greek Olympic Games.
Milan’s audience haves the chance to rediscover Vivaldi in his operatic guise, a facet of his work less frequently performed than his instrumental repertoire. Federico Maria Sardelli — a leading figure in the rediscovery and interpretation of Baroque music — and LaFil invite the public to an evening that weaves together historical memory and contemporary resonance, in the city preparing to host its own Olympic Games.
Federico Maria Sardelli is a conductor, musicologist, composer, and flautist, as well as a painter, engraver, and writer. Founder of the Baroque orchestra Modo Antiquo, he is a major force behind the revival of Vivaldi’s theatrical works, having premiered and recorded previously unknown operas such as Montezuma. Twice nominated for the Grammy Awards for recordings dedicated to Vivaldi and Corelli, he serves on the Scientific Committee of the Istituto Italiano Antonio Vivaldi and is the curator of the Vivaldi Werkverzeichnis (RV).
Duration: 2 hours and 15 minutes plus an interval
