Juan Tomás De La Molía – Revelation Artist Award 2023 – dives deep into the universe of bulerías, one of the most dynamic and rhythmically complex styles of flamenco, on a boundless exploration of its infinite nuances.
Teatro Strehler
With Vertebrado, Juan Tomás offers a veritable journey to explore the beating heart of flamenco. With his short yet already solid career, the dancer and choreographer dives deep into the universe of bulerías, one of the most dynamic and rhythmically complex styles of flamenco, offering, in 70 minutes of performance, a boundless exploration of its infinite nuances.
The title Vertebrado (which means "vertebrate") expresses the idea of a solid and unified structure in which every movement forms part of a living organism that moves in harmony with the music and the audience.
Masterfully directed by Manuel Liñan, his mentor, the work of Juan Tomás is not limited to mere technical performance; rather it goes beyond, offering a challenge to the perception of the spectator, an invitation to experience flamenco not only as a dance but also as a moment of freedom and pure emotion. His show is an opportunity to rediscover the roots of this style, celebrating the joy and the vivacity that flamenco expresses.
Wednesday 18 June, at show time | Teatro Strehler – Scatola Magica
Videocreations by Patricio Hidalgo
Free entry reserved for the audience of the show
Wednesday 18 June, after the show | Teatro Strehler
An encounter with Juan Tomás de la Molía
Duration: 1 hour and 10 minutes without intermission
