A philosopher, a prophet and a femme fatale: Leonardo Petrillo stages the paradoxical, extreme and contradictory thoughts of Friedrich Nietzsche. A form of nihilism that is never passive nor resigned, that heroically faces up to reality in an attempt to lend meaning to that thing we call life.

Teatro Grassi
Friedrich Nietzsche was the philosopher who, after having predicted the degeneration of Western society, spent the last eleven years of his life in silence. Today, a “man among men”, he once again finds his voice, discussing morals with his great love, Lou Von Salomè, and his most famous character, Zarathustra, the first among all the Islamic, Jewish and Christian prophets.
Drawing from Nietzsche’s writings, Leonardo Petrillo has created an astounding work that analyses the paradoxical, at times extreme and contradictory thoughts of one of the most controversial modern-day philosophers. In this singular reading, Zarathustra, the prophet who was fully aware that “God is dead”, takes on the task of announcing his vision to the world. However, when he begins to explain, no-one is listening, distracted by a circus performance. Actors, tightrope walkers, clowns and acrobats surround the philosopher, who has conceived the concept of eternal return and who has come to share his prophecies, even with those who struggle to manage their wonderful internal chaos, capable of «giving birth to a dancing star».
