Three women are expecting a baby. Their bellies are smooth and full, like three beautiful eggs: so strong and yet so fragile. I cuori battono nelle uova is desperate love, immense emptiness, and explosive joy, a veritable celebration of life.

Teatro Studio Melato
Three women expecting babies, their bellies smooth and full, like three beautiful eggs: so strong and yet so fragile. The destinies of their children will condition the behaviour of the three women who, blinded by love, explore the most remote corners of the human soul. I cuori battono nelle uova is desperate love, immense emptiness, and explosive joy, a veritable celebration of life.
The work is an even more theatrical representation of the style of the company; the words form part of a dramaturgical pentagram in the same way that notes fill the musical counterpart, dry and savage concepts alternate with plump and lavish thoughts, expressing fantastical and poetic images that offer a re-reading of a vulgar and repetitive reality. The production is the result of a study of three elements: body, light and rhythm. An oversized wooden cradle represents the fulcrum of the set. The mothers-to-be are enveloped in the relentless passage of a lifetime, with its frailty and gentleness, as well as the vibrant presence of death. The light pulses, breathes, beats. The cradle, with its rotary motion, and the overabundant sound of bells serves as the vehicle and channel that allows the three women to discover the truth about what lies in their bellies.
Recommended for audiences aged 12 and over
Duration: 1 hour without intermission
