Fabiana Iacozzilli and Linda Dalisi set off for Montevideo to meet the survivors and relatives of the victims of the 1972 Andes flight disaster, seeking out the voices of the people behind this story. The use of puppets allows for an exploration of the spiritual dimension that is central to the story.

On 13 October 1972, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, carrying forty-five passengers, crashed in the Andes. Twenty-nine people survive the impact, but after seventy-two days in the icy wilderness, only sixteen were rescued. It was at this point that the world learned that in order to survive, the youngsters, many of whom were members of the Old Christians Club team, had fed on the bodies of their companions.
More than fifty years on, Fabiana Iacozzilli and Linda Dalisi set off for Montevideo to meet the people behind the legendary disaster. «What is it that the people in this story continue to seek?», they ask. The answer is Oltre, a theatrical journey that explores the physicality and the memory of an event that, like a prism, contains the lines of every physical and metaphysical boundary crossed. The play integrates puppet theatre with spoken accounts; the puppets, inspired by the works of Giacometti, allow the bodies to transform, leading the audience into the spiritual dimension of the tragedy.
A story full of love, a tale of survival and also – in the words of Ana Ines Lamas, the sister of one of the victims – «of ignorance and imagination»; those young men had no experience of snow, and it is maybe this that allowed them to find a way to survive, going beyond all known limits.
