In a guided choreography, a group of people live suspended in time, examining the relationship between the rhythm of hyper-productivity and that of performance. An “inner” voice broadcast through a pair of earphones verbally describes the choreography to the participants, who transform the information received into dance.
-
SLOOOOOOW – il tempo della festa is a guided choreography , in which a group of people experience a drastic slowing of time, as though the dawn could last forever. An “inner” voice, broadcast through a pair of earphones, verbally describes the choreography to the participants, who immediately incorporate the instructions as though they were sleepwalkers, driven by their dreams.
Parini Secondo once again adopts the copy method, this time to imitate himself. He creates the paradoxical tempo of a slowed-down YouTube video, transforming a “caffeine-fuelled” dance into a meditative pretext for examining the relationship between the rhythm of hyper-productivity and that of the performance. Together with the artist and performer Rino Daidoji, he re-elaborates the choreography of his previous work, SPEEED – a series of original Japanese ParaPara sequences taken from online archives – slowing them right down and turning them into a narrative. This is then broadcast to the ears of each performer, who transforms the instructions they receive into dance, from simple descriptions of movement to more complex allegorical images. The slow pace, shared by the entire group of participants, is the compromise to be accepted, representing the social agreement required for community life. SLOOOOOOW insinuates itself like an extremely measured mirage into the ambiguous relationship between author and performer, between Voice and Body.
Duration: 45 minutes without intermission
