Taking her cue from a true-life account – the shared pregnancy of eighteen adolescent women – Marta Cuscunà, accompanied by twelve animatronic heads, provides an analysis of contemporary society, looking at gender-based violence, taboo and forms of masculinity.

Two lines of severed heads in the darkness of the stage. On one side, the adults: the parents, the principal and the school nurse. On the other, the young men and adolescent fathers. They are all hanging like hunting trophies, backed up against the wall by a situation for which they were not prepared.
These true-life events took place in the high school in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Eighteen young women all pregnant at the same time – a number four times the average – and not all of the cases seem to be a coincidence. Some of the girls apparently planned their pregnancy together, as though part of a secret pact, to then raise the children in a kind of women’s community. Journalists from all over rush to find an explanation for such a shocking pregnancy pact; one of them confesses that they wanted to create a small new world after having witnessed an act of femicide...
In the wake of È bello vivere liberi! ande La semplicità ingannata – both staged at the Teatro Grassi in 2022 – the Piccolo welcomes the third, award-winning play in the trilogy by Marta Cuscunà dedicated to Women’s Resistance.
The script for the show contains explicit references to sex as well as the f-word
Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes without intermission
