In Viaggio fantastico nel sottosuolo by Davide Carnevali, Dialogue between a Pixie and a Gnome, one of the most famous Small Moral Works by Giacomo Leopardi, serves as the starting point for a study of sustainability and de-anthropisation.

Teatro Strehler - Scatola Magica
The Scatola Magica at the Teatro Strehler serves as a point of departure for primary school classes for a “dive underground”, to explore the wonders that hide from sight in our daily lives. We learn that the ground is not just a surface on which we stand, but rather a living habitat; 30% of the planet’s biodiversity resides in the top 30 cm of soil, and a teaspoon of earth from a forest contains around 9 billion living creatures.
Encouraging us to view the world that surrounds us from an ecological viewpoint, we understand our responsibility to the planet, as well as the violence unleashed by every single human action that fails to acknowledge that the environment in which we exist is alive and full of life.
The content of this show also draws inspiration from a three-year research project developed through a series of multi-disciplinary workshops, created in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano and organised as part of the European project STAGES – Sustainable Theatre Alliance for a Green Environmental Shift
Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes without intermission
