The fifth season for the artistic collaboration between Aterballetto and the Piccolo Teatro, which has by now become a veritable 'residence'. Two evenings, two programmes, and two triptychs subdivided between six choreographers, all united by the themes of important consolidated values and renewal. In the programme for this first appointment are three new works by Philippe Kratz, L'eco dell'acqua, Eugenio Scigliano, Lost Shadows, and Johan Inger, Bliss.
A programme which perfectly sums up the journey undertaken by the artistic director Cristina Bozzolini with the aim of renewing the company's repertoire, bringing together internationally acclaimed authors and emerging Italian talent.

The first work of the evening is L’eco dell'acqua by Philippe Kratz, inspired by Goethe’s poem Gesang der Geister über den Wassern on the theme of destiny: just like water, the soul of men comes from the sky and to the sky it returns, following its passage on earth.

This will be followed by the pas de deux Lost Shadows by Eugenio Scigliano, “the shadow of a memory of which all trace has been lost”… set to the music of Franz Schubert.

Dance ‘en point’ is interwoven with street dance in #hybrid, the second piece of the evening choreographed by Philippe Kratz. A pas de deux to the music of Romare, a blend of Afro-American sounds which accompanies and envelops diverse dance styles – often seen as opposites – that blend into a harmonious finale.

The evening will conclude with the all-new Bliss: following Andonis Foniadakis, this year Aterballetto has trusted Johan Inger with the task of creating a new choreography for the company. Aterballetto has already worked with Inger for the new staging of Rain Dogs, which performed at the Teatro Strehler in 2014. Bliss is inspired by Keith Jarrett's Köln Concert, an improvised jazz solo performed at the Cologne Opera in 1975. Considered the most famous solo jazz album, it “has inspired and touched millions of people – claims Inger – thanks to its perfect timing in attracting a generation which moved from one side of their lives to the other”.
