A father, a daughter. She is Margherita Cagol, a catholic girl born in a city in the mountains who in the space of a few years became the leader of the Red Brigades, going under the name of Mara. He is her father, and his love for her is absolute. A return to the stage for the play by Angela Demattè, directed by Carmelo Rifici.

“...I had a beautiful red and blue balloon, and it was my joy and delight. The string broke and it flew away, higher, higher, ever higher. The good children in heaven are lucky, all those beautiful balloons fly up there”. This is what the young Margherita Cagol wrote in her notebook, in Trento, before becoming Mara, the Red Brigades member, wife of Renato Curcio, who was killed in an exchange of fire with the police.
After playing with great success in France, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Belgium for four seasons, Avevo un bel pallone rosso returns to the stage in a new edition, for the 50th anniversary of 1968. “The play tells of a father and a daughter who loved each other - explains Angela Dematté -. There is something that chills us, today, on the eve of the new staging of the play. Because Margherita Cagol was a terrorist”.
“The story of the Red Brigades - continues Rifici - is a pretext used by the writer to examine a more fertile and mysterious area, that of profound human relationships and the impossibility of that relationship”.
