In the second act of the triptych created by Pascal Rambert for the Piccolo, we find the same company of artists – involved in the staging of a play inspired by the Battaglia di San Romano – facing new developments in the situations that bind the actors together.

Teatro Grassi
Durante continues with the exploration of the flow of emotions and passions that envelop a company of actors. This time, we follow them as they stage the play they have been working on together, which focuses on the Battaglia di San Romano by Paolo Uccello.
«This is the first time – explained Rambert – that I have worked on a project organised over multiple seasons, and it has been a wonderful surprise. I like the idea of coming back to work with the same group of actors, because as a whole, they create an extremely vivid configuration of five characters with which I feel I can continue to create new combinations of relationship. I always write exclusively for the actors; they are my inspiration. I love the talent that some actors have in being able to go further, bringing forth from a text situations, feelings, and possibilities that I had not even imagined; what is fascinating is the work that takes place on stage and that we try to present to the audience. It is possible that Durante will also see the presence on stage of a younger generation of actors, who always bring another way of looking at life; having different ages coming together on stage is fundamental for a more complete study. There will also be a reference to Harlequin, one of the many “ghosts” that inhabit the Teatro Grassi, a character, a mask that I have often encountered when I began to work in the theatre, first through Marivaux, and then on encountering Strehler and his play. One character may “die”, but as a writer, I can always bring them back in the third part of the triptych, in Dopo!»
