A lonely caravan inhabited by two mechanical, hyper-realistic and only apparently living creatures. A white space, resembling a salt desert or an iceberg adrift. The new work by Federica Rosellini focuses on one of the most controversial figures of the musical and cultural scene: Marilyn Manson.

Teatro Studio Melato
After Carne Blu, staged at the Piccolo in 2022, Federica Rosellini – two-time winner of the UBU Award – returns to the Teatro Studio Melato with a new work that sees her as author, director and performer. «Two years ago, I had a dream», she writes in the director’s notes. «I was younger, with shorter hair, sitting on my bed. Marilyn Manson walked into the room and asked me to marry him. I began to stab him in the heart, but he did not bleed or die». A year later, the same dream returned, but this time Manson was replaced by Koshei the Immortal, a figure from Russian folklore.
This is where Ho sposato Marilyn Manson begins. From a lonely caravan and a camping tent that is home to a seven-year-old girl and Marilyn Manson: mechanical and hyper-realistic creatures that only appear to be alive, both performed by a single figure, who shares the same features as the child. A form of triangulation that disrupts time and multiplies the lines of narrative and possible reflections, allowing for a face-to-face confrontation between the characters. All three inhabit a white space that resembles a salt desert or an iceberg adrift, a cul-de-sac in memory.
«We follow the habits of Marilyn Manson and the little girl», she continues, «their everyday lives and their strange, eccentric and tender routine that has the melancholic air of the illustrations of Shaun Tan, the unbound excess of the world of Miyazaki and the dark sensitivity of characters created by Tim Burton. But this is just the beginning.»
