Ironic, caustic and irreverent: the duo RezzaMastrella return to the Piccolo with a new and irresistible creation. On stage, an admiral dressed in blue is trying to save his ship, but has to deal with his crew, which is blinded by market dynamics and personal interest.

Teatro Strehler
In the wake of the success of Fotofinish, presented at the Teatro Strehler for the 2023/2024 season, Flavia Mastrella and Antonio Rezza – Golden Lion for lifetime achievement at the 2018 Venice Festival – return to the Piccolo with a new creation: Metadietro.
On stage, an admiral dressed in electric blue is trying to save his ship, but his crew is blinded by market dynamics and personal interest. No-one is to blame, but the differences that characterise their way of living are impossible to overcome.
«Mutiny is always beneficial in a healthy organisation», read the director’s notes, «and here, in the midst of distorted viewpoints, we see yet another expatriation, not in the form of a migrating population, but rather the relentless departure of their will. And they all lived as outcasts and miracles.»
«It is impossible to return to a natural and wild state», continue the notes, «we are living in a new prehistoric period in which the role of humans is mortified, confused and insufficient. In the material representation of a virtual space, an ecopentagon creates a void, invisible characters flank the egocentric construction: these are not ghosts, but rather inductive suggestions, and despite everything, reality is never uniform; it always upsets pre-established plans and unpredictably nourishes the role of the ghost. Technological cruelty permeates the living. This is the death of heroism.»
Duration: 1 hour and 40 minutes without intermission
