Alessandro Bandini embraces the words and the work of Giovanni Testori, staging an original text created on the basis of the unpublished correspondence in French that the Novate Milanese-born author exchanged with Alain Toubas, with whom he shared a sentimental bond for more than thirty years.

Teatro Studio Melato
The young Alessandro Bandini – an apprentice of Luca Ronconi and Carmelo Rifici at the Piccolo School of Theatre and one of the participants of BAT - Bottega Amletica Testoriana created by Antonio Latella – lends voice and body to the moving and mysterious story of love between the Italian writer, dramaturg, director and painter Giovanni Testori and the French art dealer and gallery owner Alain Toubas. Per sempre is a play on the need to feel unconditionally loved and on suffering; it is a visceral demand to be allowed to love, a cry for remembrance. The wealth of correspondence between Testori and his lover Toubas, composed of letters written in French and to date never translated, transcribed or published, as well as drawings and postcards, is demonstration of an overwhelming and at times threatening love, an aspect of the Novate Milanese-born author that was generally unknown and that offers an opportunity to re-examine part of his work in a new, original and contemporary light.
The fulcrum of this piece is the all-embracing, face-to-face confrontation with the words of Testori; words that, profoundly embodied by those who speak them, become the interminable battle between a person and their own fears.
The performances on 5 and 6 December are surtitled in English and simplified Italian
Duration: the play is currently in production
