Trina and Erich. A young woman and a man. Two voices, two witnesses, two victims. We are in Curon, in Val Venosta, just a few kilometres from the Austrian and Swiss borders. The novel by Marco Balzano takes to the stage in a play with two characters and many voices, with Arianna Scommegna and Mattia Fabris playing Trina and Erich, two representatives of an entire community swept away in the name of progress and by a dam, inaugurated exactly 75 years ago, that served practically no purpose other than to wipe out the lives of hundreds of families who had resisted everything, including the First and Second World Wars, a change of nationality and Fascism, and the options to either remain Italian or emigrate to Germany.

Each in their own way, the two characters, husband and wife, tell their version of the story; between Fontamara and Rashomon, two versions emerge that in part coincide, and in part form different and complementary aspects that combine to present the audience with a bitter and painful picture that is, however, rich in dignity.
