Dramaturg, director, and, since 2022, director of the Festival d’Avignon, Tiago Rodrigues (1977) is our associate artist and one of the protagonists of the Festival Presente Indicativo | Milano Crocevia with the shows By Heart and La Distance. Rodrigues is an actor, director, author, producer, and founder – in 2003, with Magda Bizarro – of the theater company Mundo Perfeito. Among his most important works, which have received numerous awards in Portugal – where, from 2015 to 2021, Rodrigues was the artistic director of the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II di Lisbona – and abroad: By Heart (2013), António e Cléopatra (2014), Bovary (2014) and Sopro (2017). His most recent works are atarina e a beleza de matar fascistas (2020), La Cerisaie (Festival d’Avignon, 2021), Chœur des Amants (2021), and Dans la mesure de l’impossible (2022), created for the Comédie de Genève, coproduced by the Piccolo Teatro, and presented at the Teatro Strehler during the first edition of the Festival Presente Indicativo.
In that occasion, the Piccolo published, in collaboration with il Saggiatore, the volume Teatro, with the Italian versions edited by Vincenzo Arsillo, of three of his cardinal texts: Catarina e la bellezza d’ammazzar fascisti, Coro degli amanti and Nella misura dell’impossibile. In May 2024 – the year in which he brought Hécube, pas Hécube to the stage – Rodrigues returned to Milan, for the second edition of Presente Indicativo, with Entrelinhas.
